The Narrow Road

There are two types of people, who are going on two separate roads and who have two different destinations. Relax, this isn’t a riddle; it is a simple statement that there is only one way to God.

Acts 4:12–And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Just think of this simple narrative as either your spiritual GPS system or Godquest map. If you are on the right path, you will gain the crown of life. You will not be a mere survivor but a conqueror. If you are on the wrong path understand that your end is physical and spiritual death.

Proverbs 14:12–There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

Along life’s journey, we’re confronted by some of life’s most significant questions like: Who am I and who is God? Do you know what road you’re on or where you’re going? Don’t be too quick to speed past these road signs. It is a common misconception that you’ve got all the time in the world to be serious about where you’ll spend eternity. You can change directions whenever you want right? Wrong, tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

2 Corinthians 6:2b–…behold, now is the day of salvation.

You may be asking yourself why does all this matter. Well, sin came into the world through one man (Adam) and because of sin we are eternally separated from God. Man naturally goes his own way and follows his own passions down a broad, well travelled and crowded road. “For the gate is broad that leads to destruction and there are many who enter through it,” Matthew 7:13. It is a path of works and self righteousness, believe me you won’t get far. We are in desperate need of a savior.

Romans 3:20–For by the works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight…

We cannot stand before a holy God clothed in our filthy rags and on our own merits. Why? Because we don’t measure up, we miss the mark every time. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23. We need a pure faith and holy covering that only comes from God himself.
In case you missed the bright red neon sign of the cross, let me say that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8. Salvation is freely offered to you in Jesus Christ; it is the free gift of God to those who believe. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. You will have peace with God having been declared not guilty in the law courts of heaven.

Matthew 7:14–For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life and there are few who find it.

So, what do you do now? Slow down and then turn. Realize that you are a sinner who has sinned against a holy God and deserve nothing but death. God being rich in mercy made a way for you to come back to him so turn. Turn from your sin and turn to Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Believe that he is who he says he is and he will give you rest for your soul.

Romans 8:38-39–For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
